Searching for Text

Using the Find option in WinSQL Professional allows you to search for text within SQL scripts, query results or the catalog.

To initiate a search, point to the Edit menu, and then click Find.  The appropriate search window displays. Note that this search is context sensitive, meaning a search box for find text in queries is invoked if the active control is the query window. Similarly, the Database Search Wizard is invoked if the catalog tree is active.

For example, if the selected control is the Query window, the following window displays:

 

If the selected control is the catalog tree, the following window displays and allows you to search for strings in the database:

 

 

Similarly, if the selected control is a results Grid, the following window displays:

 

This window displays the columns contained in the Grid. You can either select the desired columns, or you can select the Search in ALL columns option to search within all Grid columns.
