ERROR: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException when attempting to upgrade

Synaman version 4.7 build 1556, installed on Windows Server 2019. I received notification that a new version was available. When I log into the console and click the upgrade link, I get "Internal server error occurred. Unable to fetch url http://synametrics.com/SynaMan/patchOne.xml - ERROR: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target"

I tried backing up the environment and attempting to install the new version over top of the existing install, but this generated a DLL error and I had to revert. Never had problems updating this product before. Any ideas?

ERROR: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException when attempting to upgrade

One reason for this error is an older JRE, which does not trust the SSL certificate on our site. Visit https://web.synametrics.com/update-jre.htm for instructions on how to upgrade.

Use the following method to check if you're using an older JRE:

  • Log in as 'admin'
  • Click 'About', which will change the URL in your browser to ...operation=about
  • Manually change the URL to ...operation=sinfo
  • Search for java.runtime.version. You are using an older version if the value is below 1.8.

Please call our support line if you are using a newer JRE and are still running into this problem.

THank you. That was the problem. The upgrade was successful this time.
