SynaMan Mulit-User File Access

We are looking at SynaMan for File/Folder sharing in Windows Server 2016 AD domain. What occurs when 2 or more users access and make changes to same file at the same time.? Or, are users notified the file is in use by another user?

Thanks! Chip

SynaMan Mulit-User File Access

Chip,

There are two variation of this problem:

  • The default behavior is that the last person who upload wins. You can configure SynaMan not to overwrite existing files. In that case, both copies will be retained but with a datetime stamp appended to its name.

  • Use the File-Check out feature mentioned on https://web.synametrics.com/synaman-file-check-in-out.htm . When this feature is used, everyone will be prevented from uploading the same file again if it is locked by another user.

Thanks for detailed information and quick response. Just to clarify.. If users have file open from an application utilizing a mounted SMB Share, last user to Save would Win. Similar to DSF Replication.

Thank you! Chip
