Revolving around the core of technology
Hey there,
I'm having issues with the server configuration for the ISP edition of Syncrify.
I'm trying to set it up so when a client installs the backup client, the profile created by default will back up predefined folders (Or they can can make their own profile if they do not want the defaults).
To set this up on the server, I go to "Configuration -> More Configuation Options -> Default Folders"
I then have the following folders for Windows defined:
$DOCUMENTS
$DESKTOP
$PICTURES
$USERHOME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
When testing on a fresh Windows 10 Home install and downloading the custom client, it does not seem to set up those folders in the default profile at all (Even after signing in). It just prompts "You must specify at least one file/folder to backup. Would you like some help on how to use Syncrify client?"
I'm not sure what I'm missing here. I even tried to recreate the installer files after saving the changes on the server.
Thanks in advance!
Hey cangage,
This option actually does not relate to branding, and only works under 2 conditions:
To confirm this, open your client interface, and click FILE > OPEN DATA FOLDER. Once it's open delete every file at this location that ends in ".syncrify". These are your profile files.
Once that is done, re-open the client. You should only see your computer name as a profile. Type in your server authentication and click the green check box to authenticate to your server and then check the folders tab, it should contain the default folders.

Hey thanks for the reply!
Unfortunately, the steps provided didn't seem to work for the Default Folders.
I deleted the default profile's .syncrify file after closing the application (Located in: C:\ProgramData\SyncrifyData). I then started it up again and entered the credentials and connected to the server, which created the .syncrify file again for the profile. Unfortunately, the defined default folders still do not show up. I've even tried on a a VM with a fresh install of windows that has never ran Syncrify before and get the same result after signing in.
My last test removed all variable entries and just put in "C:\" for the Default Folder in windows and that does not show up on wither machine either.
Our Syncrify Server Version is: Version: 4.9 - build 1026 (Says most up to date build)
Our Syncrify Client Version is: Version 4.8 (This was rebuilt today using the branding options on the server)
I also have a question in regards to Mac and Linux operating system default folders.
If I use a variable such as $USERHOME, will that map to /Users/<username> on Mac and /home/<username> on Linux systems?
Thanks a lot :)
