End User Email - will not send to gmail

I have setup our email configuration in Synaman to use our exchange server.

When creating a download or upload link and entering the email address, it works if the emaill address is internal, but fails if you try to send it to say a gmail account.

Now I am able to send emails to gmail accounts with no issues in outlook, so I don't believe the issue is with the exchange server.

Does anyone have any ideas?

End User Email - will not send to gmail

John,

Most probable reason for this error is that your Exchange is denying to relay emails to a foreign domain when a message is received through the SMTP. It works from Outlook because that uses Exchange Service, not the SMTP server.

One way to confirm this theory is to download a small utility called Email-Sender from http://xeams.com/email-sender.htm . I recommend you extract the files into C:\SynaMan (or wherever SynaMan is installed). Double clicking EmailSender.bat will run the program. Try sending an email to someone at gmail.com using the same configuration values for SMTP server that you have speciied in SynaMan. It is very likely you will get a "Relaying denied" error when trying to send to someone at gmail.com but will work if you use the local domain.

If this is confirmed, configure your SMTP server in Exchange to accept relaying as long as a valid user id/password is used.
