It would be handy to have the option to run the client as a specific user or as root from within the client preferences (mac) inorder to bypass permission restrictions when backing up multiple users etc. In addition client does not appear to run consistantly following a reboot (especially where the server/computer is left sat at the log in screen)

How do you do this with the custom Branded client, "backupclient.app" this does not look to have the same contents.
