Revolving around the core of technology
It would be handy to have a function where you can get the local encrytpion/decryption routie in syncrify client to run without stopping for errors (malformed names etc) and simply log these errors to the error log file. As it stands if it encounters a malformed input/unmappable character etc it pauses the encryption run until it recieves user attention.
I will put this request in our ToDo list. May I know an example of a file name that is causing the error message?
One that causes the message is
CM_FT£5Voucher_2009
it displays the error
java.nio.file.InvalidPathException:
Malformed input or input contains unmappable chacraters: /Volumes/Backup/Raid/Archive/Master Archive/ARCHIVE/CM_FT?5Voucher_2009
this is using the 4.4 build 963 client on mac os 10.10
I am ok with it finding files it can't encrypt however i am noticing that after the message has displayed the original file is no longer present in its original location and the encryption process pauses until you press "start processing" again.
Other examples would be filenames containing
...
™
or any accented characters å Â Ê Á etc
Are both client on server on MAC or server's on Linux? The only reason for Syncrify to not recognize the non-english character is an incorrect value for the following variables:
Check http://web.synametrics.com/SyncrifyForeignChars.htm for details.
Both client and server are on Mac os,
however we have not reached the point on this system of actually backing up, We have cloned the clients data to a local drive and are currently in the process of using the syncrify client to encrypt the clone prior to seeding the data on the server side (2 million+ files, 4.6 Tb of data). It is during this pre seed encryption process that these errors are occuring.
This is occuring on 3 seperate sites so it's not machine specific. All clients are running the 963 build.
Try the following:
Unfortunatly sysinfo does not appear in the Help menu of the client gui
