Syncrify Client to Qnap NAS, remove old machine.

Hi. We have a Qnap NAS, with Syncrify server 3.7 installed.

The client has been on a server and has been backing up fine. We have now installed a new file server and need to remove the client from the old server and use the new server.

After installing the client on the new server, we cannot backup to the NAS, as we dont have a licence (it is machine based).

My question is, how can I remove the old 'Machine' licence from the old server, in order to use the licence on my new file server.

I have looked under About and dont have the option to 'View installations'.

The version is Professional - Machine.

Thanks

Jamie,

You need to unregister the older client - the one that is no longer in use.

Steps:

  • Login as admin and go to the About screen
  • Click View Registrations under the Edition value
  • Unregister the retired machine on the following screen

Sorry for the late reply.

Thank you for the advice, I found out that there was an admin login that we did not have the details to.

After uninstalling the software and reinstalling it, we were able to set it up from scratch and create an admin login.

There was no need to uninstall/reinstall Syncrify if you lose the password for the admin account. Refer to http://web.synametrics.com/SyncrifyLostAdminPwd.htm for tips on how to reset the admin password
