General performance

I'm wondering if there is any performance "damping" in the trial download. I've been using a competing product with client systems that have some pretty large tables. The performance difference is dramatic, with competitor product at .7 seconds for 100,000 records retrieved, and WinSQL at over 7 times longer. Some of the tables have over 20 million records, so faster is a very big advantage.

I've seen some product trial downloads "hampered" by intentionally depressed performance intended to motivate people to buy the product I suppose. Anybody know if that is true for WinSQL?

General performance

Skip,

There is no intentional performance degradation in the "Trial" or "Lite" edition. However, there are a few design differences in WinSQL that could affect this. For example, the grid control in WinSQL is virtual - meaning when records come in from the database, they get stored on the disk rather than memory. This allows WinSQL to handle a lot of records without running out of memory. On the other hand, disk is slower than memory and therefore, you see a slight difference.
