Syncrify unstable in Mac OS 10.10

I am noticing a pattern when we deploy syncrify client on Mac OS 10.10 that it does not run the scheduled backups. You can perform a manual backup, so the config is correct but scheduled backups never seem to start. We currently see this issue on 5 seperate 10.10 installations, OS 10.9 and earlier seems to be fine as do our Windows installations.

We are using client build 856.

Syncrify unstable in Mac OS 10.10

Stuart,

We have discovered a bug in Syncrify Client running on Mac OS X, which could be causing this. When the Client is started first, it creates a *.plist file in ~/Library/LaunchAgents folder containing the PATH where Syncrify Client is located. Often users run Syncrify Client from the Download folder and then later move it to the Application folder. This move breaks the background service, since the PATH in *.plist file is still referring to Download folder but the binaries have been moved to Application.

Try the following work-around until we fix this problem.

  • Start Syncrify Client application and click Open Data Folder under File menu.
  • Create a new text file called showRegMenu.txt in this folder. The contents of this file does not matter.
  • Restart Syncrify Client.
  • Under Tools/Options you will see a menu item that says Unregister Service. Click that.
  • Then, click Register Service.
