I have WinSQL installed on a particular server which queries a number of databases (Ingres, SQL Server).
I frequently find that any query (no matter how simple) generates an error "External Exception EEFFACE". The query never completes but gives the impression it's running - I normally have to force WinSQL to end. If I restart WinSQL I'll almost always get the exact same result.
If I reboot the machine (awkward as this is a production server) I usually find I can run a few queries before the problem returns. Once it's happened once it seems to keep happening. The server is not under any particular memory pressure and although other things are running on the server there is nothing to indicate it's under particularly heavy load.
Any ideas?
