Revolving around the core of technology
Hello,
I am trying to install Syncrify on my Qnap NAS and I get the following error message:
Syncrify 3.7 installation failed. The following QPKG must be installed and enabled: JRE >= 7.
JRE_ARM 8.6.0 is installed.
I digged a little the QPKG file format and found that the condition QPKG_REQUIRE="JRE >= 7" could be expressed QPKG_REQUIRE="JRE >= 7 | JRE_ARM >= 7" or something like that.
Nevertheless, I am not able to rebuild a new QPKG file.
Any help would be appreciated!
Regards,

Jean-Pierre,
I'm don't think the JRE ARM edition or ARM chips in general are suitable for Syncrify which is why they reccommend using an Intel based machine. Some QNAPs are ARM some are QNAP. I think the reason is the intensive i/o when doing any of the incremental processes.
I have used Syncrify on an ARM machine before with no problems, however it was only in simple copy mode. I'm not sure if it will work on your setup though.
Any update on this having the same problem on a TS-431?
Same here on TS-410. Any updates?
You can modify the QNAP configuration file, cheat Syncrify, I have installed JRE, and not JRE_ARM.
I succeeded in achieving it, in QNAP's TS-212P NAS.

Your understanding is wrong.
In fact, Syncrify is the JAVA program, which is explained by JRE, and has nothing to do with the system's hardware.
Hi to all,
I have the same issue on my Qnap TS-219. i dont find anywhere how i can install JRE instead of the JRE_ARM .
do you have a link where i can find some help and get syncrify working on my NAS ?
i tryied to install JRE but i have got the message
Wrong architecture: JRE 8.6.0 is built for x86
Just as an FYI, I have downloaded the package for QNAP ARM and followed the steps outlined on Synametrics website and I have to say it worked.

Why do you need to install any Rsync on a QNAP in the first place? Isn't both Rsync and RTRR built into the Backup station? Please clarify this to me.....
Oyvind and other users.
Before I answer Oyvinds question, I just want to confirm the that current download of Syncrify for QNAP works on both Intel & ARM CPU.
Oyvind, Syncrify gives a lot more than just rsync on your QNAP. Enabling rsync on QNAP is just half of the picture. The other half is how to push files from the source machine. You can certainly use rsync on the source machine if it is Linux or use DeltaCopy if it is on Windows, using Syncrify makes the job a lot easier. Here are some of the benefits of using Syncrify with QNAP:
Well, at least the response from you was quick :-)
I may be simple minded, but I didn't enable anything on my QNAP's (I have 3 of them). It was enabled by default. I've used it "as is" to Rsync files between them (NAS-2-NAS) and between any NAS and external USB connected drives. That works just great. Fast, reliable and hazzle free.
So, now I needed to Rsync a 1,2TB folder from a Windows machine to the NAS over Wi-Fi. Doing so with file copy (or full backup) would take days. I used a tiny windows Rsync client named Acrosync. It installed in 5 sec, had the most intuitive GUI I have ever seen, is totally free (at least the trial), and did the job in under 20 min.
That's hard to beat!
A true KISS solution :-)
Oyvind,
Syncrify is free too, for personal use. In any case, I am sure if you try Syncrify you will see the benefits. Give it a try - I am sure you will like it. It does a lot more than just rsync.
