Revolving around the core of technology
Hi all,
I'm just digging into Synaman for the first time. I have it deployed on a windows server without active directory integration.
I'm looking at the AppConfig.xml file and a few of the settings are apparent, but many are opaque. Is there something similar to a man file I can look at for the appconfig settings?
Regarding passwords, I found this (https://web.synametrics.com/synamanpasspolicy.htm) on how to set a password policy. I think I can implement this, but is there any way for me to force a user to change their password at next login (e.g for password expiry or new account setup)?
I did some googling at site:synametrics.com but couldn't find an answer. If I missed it, please feel free to point me in the right direction :)

Tim,
Most parameters in AppConfig.xml are saved from the web interface. There are a few exceptions, such as the password policy page you mentioned.
One way to ask users to specify their own passwords is to use the Invitation screen. Check https://web.synametrics.com/synaman-invite-users.htm for details.
Thank you for your quick reply.
Do we have a way to expire the passwords of existing users, such that they will be forced to generate a new password?
In our case, our initial users were able to set any password they wished, but when we enable password complexity, we will also want to ensure that existing user accounts use complex passwords, not just new ones.
Tim,
The current version of SynaMan does not have this feature. However, I see this as an important feature to have. I will put it on our feature list and you will see it in the next version. Let us know if you need this feature before it is publicly released. We will provide you an update.
Awesome! Thanks!
If I had known there were no way to do it I would have put in a feature request, but this works, too.
Tim,
We sent you an email with a download link to patch your SynaMan. Did you get that message?
