How to you specify the EHLO in the smtp gateway? It seems to be using the computer name, but not completely sure. 

Use the following steps:

• Create a text file called server.properties in $INSTALL_DIR\config folder.
• Add the following line:
  
  mail.smtp.localhost=your.fqdn.com
  
  
• Save the file and restart.

We recommend you use Xeams instead of SMTP Gateway. Xeams can do a lot more and is much more configurable. The Community Edition is free.
