Revolving around the core of technology
Hello, my syncrify instance said "new version available". Clicking on the link did nothing though. So I thought I will just try to download server setup file from synametric and reinstall it over. Apparently that was a mistake. During installation it did not ask anything like "previous version found - upgrading" and at the end I got an error java.exe - The procedure entry point JVM_IsVMGeneratedMethodlx could not be located in the dynamic link libary c:\syncrify\jre\bin\verify.dll.
Now the service does not start. Luckily I have backed up the whole folder, so I guess I can restore it somehow.
Why didn't the upgrade button work? Why did setup.exe screw it up?
McVitas,
As a rule of thumb, you should never re-install Syncrify if your goal is to upgrade. Syncrify puts every configuration in the $INSTALL_DIR\config folder. Reinstalling will replace the files in this folder and therefore, you will lose your configuration.
Were you eventually able to reinstall or is it still dead? If you are able to reinstall, replace the content of the $INSTALL_DIR\config folder to bring back your older config. If it is not coming up, please contact our support department either via email or phone.
So I fixed it:
Uninstalled, installed again, stopped service, copied over the backed up config folder, started service. And it's working.
I am glad it worked.
