Updating Database Connections

Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to update existing connections in WinSQL. The credentials I use in the ODBC connection need to be updated every 90 days and when my password changes, my current connections in WinSQL prevent me from running my queries. It doesn't seem like there is an option to update an existing connection and I have to resort to creating a new connection and copying all of my queries over.

If anyone has any information on this, I would truly appreciate the help.

Thank you

Updating Database Connections

Unfortunately, there is no quick way to change that password in the current version. I am going to mark this as a feature request for the next version.

Thank you for your response.

You mention that there is no quick way to change that password, but then that means there is a way?

Would you happen to have any documentation available on how to do this? If not, can you give me a quick run down?

Updating Database Connections

I have several scripted/scheduled jobs that launch and use the .wxf .wet and .sql64 files.

The .wet file contains the username (suid) and password (spwd) to connect to the DB.

I can see the user id in the clear and easy to update, but the password is encrypted.

I need to update both for several jobs and haven't been able to figure it out.

I've tried launching WinSQL via the .sql64 file, entering the new credentials at the opening prompt.

Then I ran the export task, selecting the existing .wet file and without changing anything, saved/updated it.

But when I review the updated .wet file, I still see the OLD userid and the encrypted password is different.

(I assume it's the same OLD password, just re-encrypted during the update process)

How can I update my .wet file with new credentials?

Thanks

Doug
