Where is the "$INSTALL_DIR/RansomwarePrevention" folder into which I put the file?

$INSTALL_DIR refers to the folder where you have installed Syncrify Server. On Windows, this is typically C:\Syncrify and on Linux it is /opt/Syncrify. Assuming you are running Syncrify Server on Windows, look for C:\Syncrify\RansomwarePrevention folder.

if the customer did get infected with ransomware OR the file was modified, is the Admin notified? or do they just not backup anymore.

Two things will happen:

• Backup will abort and the email report sent to the end user will say "Possible ransomware detected".
• Administrator will be alerted via email
