Hi,

I have WinSQL installed on a particular server which queries a number of databases (Ingres, SQL Server).

I frequently find that any query (no matter how simple) generates an error "External Exception EEFFACE". The query never completes but gives the impression it's running - I normally have to force WinSQL to end. If I restart WinSQL I'll almost always get the exact same result.

If I reboot the machine (awkward as this is a production server) I usually find I can run a few queries before the problem returns. Once it's happened once it seems to keep happening. The server is not under any particular memory pressure and although other things are running on the server there is nothing to indicate it's under particularly heavy load.

Any ideas?

You are saying it happens even after you restart WinSQL (not after rebooting the server). Could you please confirm if it is happing with both SQL Server and Ingres or only Ingres.

Please make sure you are using the latest build for the ODBC driver. Memory errors in the ODBC driver appear as if they are being generated by WinSQL.
